- Lose an inch by (cleaning) a yard – Yard work is a great strength-training workout. Raking leaves doesn’t just work your biceps, triceps, pectoral and leg muscles, it also burns around 205 calories every half hour. After raking the leaves, mow the lawn using a push mower and burn 125 calories in thirty minutes. If you live in a cold climate, shovel snow from the driveway and get warmed up with the thought that you’re burning 205 calories.

House chores don’t have to be an excuse for you to miss your workout. With a little change of perspective, doing your chores can be a great physical activity.
